Chia Ek Chor and Chia Jin Hyang
or Choncharoen Chiaravanont in Thai

are the founding brothers of "Chia Tai Chung" and built a solid foundation for Chia Tai with strong commitment on "ethical conducts and integrity".

Prospering Towards New Century of Sustainability.

Two founding brothers of Chia Family started a small seed shop business on Song Wat Road.
Origin of Chia Tai

The two founding brothers opened "Chia Tai Chung" seed shop located in a
2-storey building at Number 102 on Songsawat Road in Song Wat neighborhood. This marks the start of Chia Tai and Charoen Pokphand Group.

Aeroplane Brand encapsulates Chia Tai’s high quality and innovation in product offering.

The two founding brothers adhered deeply to "quality assurance". Seeds are carefully packed in sealed paper packets with expiry dates to ensure great quality. Airplane, symbolizing the most innovative technology at that time, was used as the logo and brand name. Therefore, the "Aeroplane Brand" encapsulates Chia Tai’s high quality and innovation in product offering. However, the name was changed to "Kruang Bin" in 1975.

Moment of Great Pride

Kim Nguan Nueng represented Chia Tai Chung to have an audience with and presented a souvenir to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasion of Constitution Fair at Lumpini Park where Chia Tai Chung launched an exhibition booth. Choncharoen Chiaravanont, together with his family, also had an audience with His Majesty.

Choncharoen bought 40 rai of land in Om Noi, Samut Sakhon Province, and developed it for research purpose to explore which types of seeds are suitable for Thailand’s climate.
Chia Tai started marketing and distribution for fertilizers.

Back then, Chia Tai’s fertilizers were sold under Rabbit Brand, Buffalo Brand and Peacock Brand.

After that, to ensure greater brand awareness among farmers, Fertilizer Business decided to sell fertilizers under Rabbit Brand only.

"Lighthouse Brand" Plant Protection Products

Chia Tai started selling "Lighthouse Brand" plant protection products as the business at that time needed lights for clear direction guidance. However, the name was changed to "Chia Tai Plant Protection" later.

Chia Tai first introduced F1 hybrid seeds to Thai farmers.

The hybrid cabbage "F1-KK Cross" imported from Japan. With great yields and tolerance to tropical weather, farmers can plant cabbages to serve consumers all year long.

Fertilizer warehouses

In Fertilizer Business, there were 3 warehouses in Phra Pradaeng, Bang Krachao and Suk Sawat. Later, the warehouse has been moved to Ayutthaya until now.

The first research station has been established in Chiang Mai.

This is testament to the company’s extensive breeding expertise.

The second research station has been established in Kanchanaburi.

Vajarachai Chiaravanond pioneered this research station from the start. He emphasized on developing seeds that are suitable for tropical climate and bred hybrid melon seed 434 which is the origin of Chia Tai’s popular Melon Princess in Indonesia.

Chia Tai introduced first hybrid seeds pioneered by Thais.

These included hybrid cucumber "Model", and hybrid Chinese cabbage "Bo Ploy" which is the first hybrid brassica seed developed by Thais.

It is with great honor and privilege for people in Chia Tai and Charoen Pokphand Group to be granted the Royal Garuda emblem from His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej to install on the office.
The first "Chia Tai Fair"

"Chia Tai Fair" was hosted to showcase Chia Tai’s agricultural advancement to the public. The exhibition was organized at Choncharoen Farm, Kanchanaburi Province.

The day of profound pride for all Chia Tai people

8 December 1999 is the day of profound pride for all Chia Tai people as His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (His Majesty’s noble title at that time) graciously designated Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to represent His Majesty in visiting Choncharoen Farm. On this memorable occasion, we are deeply proud of and grateful for the royal grace bestowed upon all Chia Tai people.

Chia Tai opened new office and seed processing plant in Om Noi Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon Province.

The plant utilizes the most innovative technologies for seed production and quality control in Southeast Asia.

Chia Tai launched the first-ever TV commercial to promote Rabbit Brand Fertilizer under the theme "Twins" which makes it widely popular among general public.
Chia Tai’s seeds were certified by ISTA (International Seed Testing Association).
